About

Hello, welcome to my blog on Financial Institutions 1850-2020. I started this blog to consolidate my understanding of the banking industry. After studying history at the University of Exeter in the UK, I currently attend business school in Paris where I will shortly be graduating from my masters in International Business. While this blog is a hobby, exploring key financial topics enhances my commercial awareness and proves to be very useful in my post-graduation job hunt.

My passion for macroeconomics and finance developed during my history studies with the financial crises, specifically the Great Depression being of particular interest to me. I consider an understanding of the history of finance to be extremely beneficial for understanding the present as a variety of consumer behaviours, specific leadership personalities and global political events demonstrate continuity and clearly identifiable patterns. Furthermore, history encompasses taking a holistic, broad approach while never failing to discern essential details. Similarly, the study of specific industries, their performance and the impact of global events on economies require a similar approach.

My aspirations to pursue an international career in banking and experience multiple cultures make the cross-cultural analysis of economies a prominent feature of this blog. Currently, my priorities are to move away from the historical aspect of banking and challenge myself by leaning more towards innovation and the future of the industry. A variety of the electives I study at business school provide useful background and inspire my article concepts. I also hope to continue exploring the careers of specific leaders within the industry, their mistakes, triumphs and the lasting impact their judgments had on the firm.

If you have any feedback or suggestions for future articles please get in touch -I would be most grateful.
